Pineapple Head

Image

After a month of amazing adventures to the Grand Canyon, Bali, and New York, I am incandescently happy to be home to the mean streets of Venice, CA. And what afternoon would be complete with out romping around back alleys with pineapples, cowboy hats, and graffiti? Shot by my favorite buns at The Two Photography.

A Sweet Mindset

succulents

Sherbet has been the color of my days recently. It has been a sweet change from the painful and dark cloudy skies I have been enduring the past few months. These clouds of sadness and depression have been an irksome and unpleasant combination of my own unhealthy mind set, and the painful pricks of life. A wonderful person left my life here in Los Angeles, and a not so wonderful person has had a bigger hold on my life and my happiness then I want to allow. Sometimes times are hard simply because of this thing called life, and sometimes the choices we make only deepen our sadness and depression. In clinical therapy, it’s called having distorted thinking….this process of being down and defeated, and subconsciously making decisions that only further your pain and misery; either because you think you deserve it, or because you cannot possibly imagine your life being anything else but sad and miserable.

I was feeling so lost and low, and at times, thought my days would forever be colored by dark and cloudy skies. But the bright colors of hope and happiness have begun to find their way back into my life. These little rays have been blessings, as well as hard work to change these distorted thoughts that colored my world so bleakly. Small changes and choices every day are what make up a happy life. So look for the little sweet sorbet colored moments in your day, be gentle with yourself, love yourself, and I promise things will get a little sweeter.

Floral Engagement

Image

The days have been gloriously summer-like; not a trace of cold winter swells anywhere in Los Angeles. So naturally a bright white crochet-crop top and floral maxi skirt are the only way to go about a day of errands in Santa Monica. If you look closely, you could have thought these were taken in a quant little Italian town…..those ocean bluffs are just so magical.

In the back alleys of Venice

Image

In the back alleys of Venice, that’s where I feel most at home…with the climbing jasmine vines, the pastel painted fences, and the sweet smell of creativity. Changing in cars, running from angry neighbors, and recking havoc as only Venice girls can; that’s the kind of photo shoot that makes for an truly magical afternoon along the canals.

As always, shot by the one and only, thetwophotography.

Desert Dreams

Image

4am.

That’s truly the golden hour.

Waking up for my trip to Palm desert was something like Christmas…with all the butterflies, expectation, and crazy nervous energy you get before opening a pile of presents. But instead of ripping the paper off of Christmas goodies, I got to drive to the desert with all the colors of the most glorious magenta and lemon colored sunrise, stopping in the middle of the desert for one of the most magical photo shoots ever, with the amazing girls from thetwophotography. Check out more of their beautiful work here!

Cozy to the Maxx

Image

Fall in Southern California can be a tricky business. It’s the second week in November, and we are having a full flown Indian summer….the 80 degree beach days, bikini and boating adventures kind of Indian summer. So what’s a girl to wear, when all her fall coats and scarves make her sweat just thinking about them? The answer my dears, are maxi skirts. I have more maxi skirts in my closet then any other article (yes, even shoes). They are so easy to pair with a crop top, chunky sweater, or plunging neck line body suit. They are unbearably sexy, while being the most comfortable thing I can possibly think of wearing. To kick up the Fall punch, I love pairing a maxi with a cozy beanie.

Halloween is hands down one of my favorite holidays…right up there with St. Patrick’s day (gotta support the Irish heritage) and Cinco De Mayo (margaritas and mustaches are kindov my thing). And how could Halloween not be? Not only are you allowed to act like a child, its totally and completely encouraged! And we cannot forget the Mean Girls quote which really does just say it all “Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it“. Add a pair of bunny ears and you’re good to go. Here are a few of my favorite Halloween inspos, enjoy Daisies! xx

For what it’s worth….it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be.  There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There is no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.
